Program Notes
Anon, was written in 1984 as a commission for the Michigan Music Teachers Association and was premiered in Grand Rapids, Michigan that same year.

The work is in one movement with three sections. The title, an archaic word meaning "soon, presently", is used typically as a response to a imperative inquiry (esp. in Shakespeare). This kind of dialogue is an integral part of the musical flow between oboe and piano. The timbres of both instruments are intrinsically and wildly different in nature; elevating and honoring those differences in the form of dialogue are given an opportunity in this work.
